Shannon stared at the profile. Brandon was extremely handsome, of course, but she liked how upfront he was about what he wanted. So, she messaged him. Her first question on Bumble was, “What’s your favorite thing to cook?” Brandon looked at her profile. For him, online dating could feel like ads, but here was a girl who felt genuine. The ad was not lying. He answered, and so the love story began.
Their first date would be at Top Golf where Shannon would impress him with her excellent golf skills. Not. But she soon realized that she could be herself. And Brandon was so attracted, not just to her beauty, but to her sincerity. “Right off the bat, Shannon seemed smart, she knew what she was looking for, was loved by friends and family, and seemed honest. Of course, it helped that she was beautiful! I knew she was the one rather quickly. Honesty and openness. I knew I could be my true self with her.”
Shannon loved Brandon’s silly sense of humor and of course, his amazing cooking. But he also brought her calm. “I love that he is willing to try new things or experiences because he knows it is something that makes me happy (even if he doesn’t want to do it). I tend to be an overthinker, and he helps to calm my brain and bring reality back into the picture. I can always count on him to be there.”
Brandon knew that she was the one early on. Shannon was beautiful, loving, and determined. “I told her I loved her accidentally, too early some would say, meaning it just came out. It was supposed to just stay in my head , but I blurted it out so easily, and I actually meant it.” There were so many reasons that he was in love and felt loved. “Shannon will leave me cute notes on the white board on the fridge, leave me a coffee cup out after making coffee for us every morning, and she’s always planning out our week’s dinners to eat together. She always asks me how my day was.”
Brandon planned to propose on their first anniversary during a helicopter tour, but the ring was not ready. So Shannon happily took the helicopter ride, but did not land engaged. Brandon tried multiple times to propose, but all his incredible plans were not working out. So finally at their favorite restaurant, as they sat in the same booth that they normally sat at, Brandon asked Shannon to marry him. For all the planning he had done, it would be this quiet, intimate moment just for the two of them. It was perfect. Shannon said, “Yes.”
