English Springs Park: Family Photography: The Reams

Two brothers fell in love with two beautiful girls. They got married, had cute kids and every year get together to take family pictures. Once again, I got that honor of capturing their family memories.

    Couple Session: Katelyn loves Andrew

Five years ago, I captured their Wedding. Katelyn and Andrew are still that same fun, loving couple. There was one difference this time…. pineapple shirts. One day, they both came home to find each other wearing them. They laughed. Pineapple shirts make them happy. Yes, it sometimes the simplest thing in a love story that makes us smile and confirms that we are with the perfect person for us.

Día de Los Muertos Family Session: López

Day of the Dead has nothing to do with Halloween. It is a Mexican Holiday that honors family.. all family, those living and those that are no longer with us.

Families make altars with candles, flowers and pictures of those that have died. They eat the meals they loved and visit the cemeteries. They decorate the graves and sometimes even bring food and music to share with them. Most importantly, they share stories of their lives. They laugh and they cry. They miss and they know that they will all be together again.

The Lopez family honored this tradition by painting their faces and wearing crowns of flowers, some adorned with skulls. It was a moment to feel close to those they had lost.

Emily loves her kids. Daisy is the oldest daughter. She is the sweetest, most helpful and is an artist. Jasmine is a senior. She is a free spirit, most responsible and hardworking. Sabrina loves to run, go hiking, any outdoor activity. She is always up for an adventure. Robert is a a sweetheart, a gamer. He is strong and fighting for his life.

Casa Colina Hospital/ Love Story/ Abacuc and Erica

They say Love is blind, but sometimes love is so clear. It’s just not seen with eyes, but felt in your heart.

When I saw Erica pushing Abacuc’s wheelchair into the dialysis center, I assumed she was his nurse or caretaker. Then I saw her kiss him on the forehead and my imagination began running with their love story. She was probably young when she married him and he was older, now he was sick and she was still devoted to him. I had it wrong. I, of course love hearing how two people met and so I asked. My imaginative version was far from the truth.

Abacuc and Erica met at Casa Colina Hospital five years ago where they were both in rehabilitation learning to live with their disabilities. They would both go sit next to the fountain in the courtyard and just reflect quietly to themselves. One day, Abacuc heard Erica crying and so he simply said, “Don’t cry.” And so the love story began. Abacuc is loving, intelligent and funny. Even though Abacuc could not see her clearly, he knew Erica was beautiful, and kind with a big heart.

They were married in the very place they met. In Casa Colina Hospital in the courtyard. Sadly, their wedding photographer never gave them their wedding pictures. I was blessed to capture their 3rd year anniversary pictures.

St. Andrew’s Church: Pasadena: Baptism Photography: Amelia

Alex and Ariel chose Hazel and Jon to be godparents to their daughter Amalia.

Her Padrinos arrived with a beautiful dress fit for a princess. Amalia played with her shoes, admired her necklace but was not at all happy with the bonnet on her head. She took it off every chance she got.

We took all of her pictures before her baptism. By the time, it was Father’s turn to be in a picture, she was done with her outfit.
