They have three daughters: Gregoria, Claudia and Maribel and 3 grandchildren: twins Jada and Sofia and baby Aiden. Their family is small and distant from each other, but they are fun, supportive and loving. They were blessed this summer with their entire family together.

Rick and Georgia met in college. Rick and Gregoria have been married for 22 years. Their daughters will be starting college out of state this fall.

Lucas and Maribel met 14 years ago through a mutual work friend. After 12 together they decided to take the plunge and get married. A year later, they had their adorable son Aiden.

They met 20 years ago due to a misspelling in their email, became friends and before you know it Claudia flew to Peru to meet Miguel in person. Ever since they have been the funniest loving couple . They have been married for 10 years.

Casita de Arroyo: Pasadena Engagement: Christopher loves Lizette

Lizette was the first one to make a move. She went up to her cute coworker at the Home Depot and asked him what kind of music he liked. It worked. They were soon talking and falling in love. Christopher had found a girl that would be his, “High Queen.” Lizette had found a man that was kind, understanding and selfless.

Their relationship was easy and warm. They both could be equally weird around the other.

On a trip to San Fransisco, Christopher proposed. His brother had the ring and he could not find him. He was flustered. Everything that Chris wanted to say, he forgot. All he could ask was for her to marry him. Lizette believed he was joking until she saw the ring. It was not a joke. Love was real. She said, “Yes,” to the man she loved.

Pasadena Couple Photography: Henry loves Abigail

Henry literally tripped over himself and stepped on Abigail’s toe, welcoming her to church. The next day, Abigail’s sister caught him staring. But Abigail was more concerned with a tomato plant. Yes, a tomato plant, particularly one tomato on it. She would watch it everyday as it grew outside the church. And one day it was gone! Henry admitted he had given the tomato to someone else. Abigail was angry. (She probably got red as a tomato.)
The next time, she saw Henry he had a tomato for her. Abigail said she did not want it. Henry told her niece to give her later the rejected tomato. To Abigail’s surprise, her niece gave her a dozen flowers that Henry had sent. It was a nice gesture, but Abigail really didn’t want much to do with him. Henry kept at it. He would win her heart. He asked her to be his girlfriend. Abigail answered a sarcastic, “Yes.” For Henry, the, “yes,” was real.

It really didn’t matter, Abigail didn’t have a phone or a way to talk with him. In the evenings she would borrow her sister’s to use Facebook and Henry didn’t have social media so… But there it was, a friend request from Henry. Abigail quickly clarified that her answer had been a joke and that she was not his girlfriend. Henry told her that if she wanted to reject him, it would have to be in person and so their first date would be one where Abigail planned to break up with him. Truthfully, she was feeling something for him.

So over Chinese food, she told him that she did not want a boyfriend. Henry asked for a chance. Abigail not only gave him a chance, but her heart as well.

Fast forward a year, in that same restaurant, Henry and Abigail no longer talked about a chance, but about the future. On the way home, they talked about how God had put them in the same path. Henry didn’t have a ring, but he couldn’t wait anymore. He asked Abigail to marry him. Abigail cried happy tears.

They were married Saturday, December 12, 2015. They are celebrating 5 years of an amazing marriage. Happy Anniversary.

I get to laugh alongside with them as I now tell them their love story of how they met or we talk about last years shoot. This is Henry and Abigail. He ate the tomato on the plant she was growing. She got mad. He was up for the challenge and made her fall in love with him, married her and hasn’t let her go. If you want the long version of the tomato story, it’s here. […]ReplyCancel

      Pasadena Engagement: Scott loves Sonia

Sonia and her best friend Lily wanted to go to see Martin Garrix in Las Vegas. Lily’s husband did not want them going alone, yet he did not want to be the only guy on the trip, so he asked his friend Scott to join them.

Sonia feared that the trip would turn into an unwanted, “double date weekend, ”  with someone she had just met, but Scott was super respectful and friendly. Sonia enjoyed every moment along his side and was happy when the next weekend Lily texted her that Scott had asked her permission to hang out with her. Her number was given and the texting began.

Their first date would be at Tony’s on the pier in Redondo Beach. They talked and laughed and began falling in love, but at her brother’s wedding Sonia would still introduce him as her friend. The following day, Scott officially asked her out ending forever the “just friends,” introduction.

For Sonia and Scott the weekends, were special because Scott traveled for work. Every Sunday, he would leave and an entire week would pass before they would get to see each other again. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and Sonia knew she was in love.

For Scott, the love story had unknowingly started long before Vegas. He actually remembered meeting Sonia before. He had sat across from Sonia and her date at his friend’s graduation. He had no clue then, but the girl he had noticed at the party and the girl he had fun a the concert was the one he would ask to be his wife.

Asking Sonia to marry him, would not be the difficult part. It would be asking Sonia’s mother for their blessing. She was not responding to text messages or phone calls. One hour before he proposed, Scott got the blessing. They were in San Diego. After breakfast, they walked along the water. The day was beautiful. It had rained the entire night the day before. They stopped to look at a fountain in Water Front Park. There he told Sonia how much he loved her, how happy he was to be with her and out of nowhere pulled out a beautiful ring. Sonia was so caught off guard that she buried her face in his chest and just kept repeating, “No, No, No” because she couldn’t believe it. Scott smiled because he knew what she meant, but still asked her, “So you’re saying, ‘no,’?” Sonia immediately looked at him and said, “Yes. Of course,” and gave him the biggest hug. “Then put this ring on before I drop it!” Sonia did and like always…. they both laughed.

Pasadena City Hall Engagement: Ian loves Karina

They had a mutual friend on Facebook. He commented. She clicked on his profile and friends they became. That was it. No chatting. No messaging. Just Facebook Friends. Then Ian posted a picture of himself in a suit. Karina told him that he looked cute. Suddenly, she had his attention. The messaging began. They would meet in Vegas. Karina was on her way back to the room when Ian said he was in the lobby. Karina rushed down, hugged him and began talking and being her usually hyper self. Ian was quiet and shy, but at the end of the night he asked her out. Their first date would be at Tantalum restaurant. Ian was so respectful. He opened doors, pulled out chairs and this time talked a little more. Karina knew then she wanted him always in her life. She was falling in love. For Ian, loving Karina was natural. They had been dating three months when he told Karina that his brother in law was a pastor and that he would marry them. Karina thought he was joking, but smiled at the idea of marrying him. It would be a year and a half later when Ian made sure Karina’s family and friends would be at the same restaurant where they once had their first date. He even showed up the day before to assure that they were seated on the opposite side of the restaurant. As they walked to the Marina to board a boat for a cruise, they noticed a singer and a photographer. Karina figured it was a photoshoot. She had no clue they were friends of Ian. They chatted with them and the singer sang her a song. The singer asked her if she liked surprises. Ian told her he had a surprise for her. She thought he would start singing, but instead Ian got down one knee as the photographer took pictures. Karina said, “Yes,” and then heard her family cheer from the balcony of the restaurant. They were engaged.
