She was 15 when he fell in love with her. He saw a a girl who was not only beautiful, but energetic and strong. They now have been married for 26 years and have three children who they have raised in a loving, faith-filled home. For her, family is everything. Just as her father instilled in her, she has taught her kids to live their lives with morals, to work hard and never be afraid of anything. Regardless of those serious attributes, she is still the life of the party.
Her 50th birthday got cancelled because of covid so what does a woman want in place? How do you still celebrate being 50 (but looking 36) Pictures with the family she loves of course.

Henry literally tripped over himself and stepped on Abigail’s toe, welcoming her to church. The next day, Abigail’s sister caught him staring. But Abigail was more concerned with a tomato plant. Yes, a tomato plant, particularly one tomato on it. She would watch it everyday as it grew outside the church. And one day it was gone! Henry admitted he had given the tomato to someone else. Abigail was angry. (She probably got red as a tomato.) The next time, she saw Henry he had a tomato for her. Abigail said she did not want it. Henry told her niece to give her later the rejected tomato. To Abigail’s surprise, her niece gave her a dozen flowers that Henry had sent. It was a nice gesture, but Abigail really didn’t want much to do with him. Henry kept at it. He would win her heart. He asked her to be his girlfriend. Abigail answered a sarcastic, “Yes.” For Henry, the, “yes,” was real.
It really didn’t matter, Abigail didn’t have a phone or a way to talk with him. In the evenings she would borrow her sister’s to use Facebook and Henry didn’t have social media so… But there it was, a friend request from Henry. Abigail quickly clarified that her answer had been a joke and that she was not his girlfriend. Henry told her that if she wanted to reject him, it would have to be in person and so their first date would be one where Abigail planned to break up with him. Truthfully, she was feeling something for him.
So over Chinese food, she told him that she did not want a boyfriend. Henry asked for a chance. Abigail not only gave him a chance, but her heart as well.
Fast forward a year, in that same restaurant, Henry and Abigail no longer talked about a chance, but about the future. On the way home, they talked about how God had put them in the same path. Henry didn’t have a ring, but he couldn’t wait anymore. He asked Abigail to marry him. Abigail cried happy tears.
They were married Saturday, December 12, 2015. They are celebrating 5 years of an amazing marriage. Happy Anniversary.

Mt. Baldy Couple Session: Henry loves Abigail » Story In Time[…] I am so blessed that I get to see a couple have fun in my camera every year. I get to laugh alongside with them as I now tell them their love story of how they met or we talk about last years shoot. This is Henry and Abigail. He ate the tomato on the plant she was growing. She got mad. He was up for the challenge and made her fall in love with him, married her and hasn’t let her go. If you want the long version of the tomato story, it’s here. […]ReplyCancel
They had a mutual friend on Facebook. He commented. She clicked on his profile and friends they became. That was it. No chatting. No messaging. Just Facebook Friends. Then Ian posted a picture of himself in a suit. Karina told him that he looked cute. Suddenly, she had his attention. The messaging began. They would meet in Vegas. Karina was on her way back to the room when Ian said he was in the lobby. Karina rushed down, hugged him and began talking and being her usually hyper self. Ian was quiet and shy, but at the end of the night he asked her out. Their first date would be at Tantalum restaurant. Ian was so respectful. He opened doors, pulled out chairs and this time talked a little more. Karina knew then she wanted him always in her life. She was falling in love. For Ian, loving Karina was natural. They had been dating three months when he told Karina that his brother in law was a pastor and that he would marry them. Karina thought he was joking, but smiled at the idea of marrying him. It would be a year and a half later when Ian made sure Karina’s family and friends would be at the same restaurant where they once had their first date. He even showed up the day before to assure that they were seated on the opposite side of the restaurant. As they walked to the Marina to board a boat for a cruise, they noticed a singer and a photographer. Karina figured it was a photoshoot. She had no clue they were friends of Ian. They chatted with them and the singer sang her a song. The singer asked her if she liked surprises. Ian told her he had a surprise for her. She thought he would start singing, but instead Ian got down one knee as the photographer took pictures. Karina said, “Yes,” and then heard her family cheer from the balcony of the restaurant. They were engaged.

Sometimes love stories start slow, but their pace is sure. Sometimes it is distance that brings you closer. Love that is meant to be always happens… eventually.
Ryan and Rebecca met met through a ministry they both served called TeenPact Leadership Schools. They were on the same staff team in Phoenix, Arizona and ran a week-long program for Jr. High and High School students. During that week, they had different assignments and barely interacted. Over the next 2 years, they would serve together in other states and slowly became friends.
Fast-forward three years. Ryan went back to Washington, and Rebecca was studying abroad in Israel. They were both interested in each other, but they were also slow-movers. When Rebecca returned from Israel, they skypped and Ryan very nervously expressed an interest in getting to know her and developing a more serious relationship. They would both hang up relieved and giddy with excitement. Thanks to the few thousand miles between them, their first date would not be until three months later. Ryan came to California and their first date would be a picnic in a park, and a coffee shop afterward. After being in separate states, countries, and timezones for 7 months, it was sweet to just be together.
For Ryan, Rebecca’s inner and outer stunning beauty stood out. He was amazed at how thoughtful and encouraging she was, the way she interacted with everyone around her and made them feel so valued and respected. She listened to people and wanted what was the best for them and truly cared. She was fun and brought joy to his life. Rebecca admired Ryan’s thoughtfulness, how quickly he served and cared for others, and how well he led others. He was kind, caring, and a strong leader.
If Ryan was sincere in his intentions, he did lie. Rebecca’s mom helped him.
Ryan told Rebecca that they would be going ring shopping, but he already had the ring. Rebecca’s mom “just happened” to have extra tickets to the Descanso Gardens in LA, so he suggested stopping by the gardens on the way. It was a beautiful, perfect day. As they were walking in the rose gardens, Ryan turned the casual stroll into a purposeful walk toward a gazebo in the center of the gardens. Rebecca immediately tensed up, and noticed the decorations her family had arranged. Ryan gave her a picture book he made about their love story (perfect for an elementary school teacher) then got down on one knee and proposed. Family and best friends came running out of the bushes to congratulate them. They were so excited that Ryan forgot to place the ring on her finger. It eventually happened…slowly…just like their Love Story.
