They had an autistic student in common. Marleny was his mental health case manager and Tomas took care of him during recess. Tomas claims that when Marleny saw him, she fell in love with him and pursued him. She wanted to have his babies! (Yeah, I didn’t believe that either, but Tomas made me promise that I would write it down.)

If truth be told, Marleny did not think he was her type. Tomas tried to make small talk during recess but she wouldn’t even give him the time of day. Eventually, as it does in love stories, they became friends. They began going to the gym together. Gym buddies! What Marleny did not know was that Tomas was driving from West LA to East LA just to spend time with her.

She would soon start noticing his many qualities. He was gentleman. He was attentive. He was patient. She admired his genuineness and how he was always willing to put her needs before his. And if that was not enough.. he could cook! Tomas on the other hand had long ago noticed that Marleny was sweet, very caring and family oriented. She was a godly woman respectful of others. So while Marleny tried to convince herself that she was not falling for him, that he was not her type, Tomas knew that one day she would be his.

Tomas had kissed her for the first time unexpectedly and he told her that on a day she would not be expecting it, he would propose. So one night, at her house with her family present, while she made a salad that he had taught her how to make, he came into the kitchen and asked her to marry him. There was no denying it ever again. He was her type. He was the man she wanted to marry. She said, “Yes!”
