Rebecca tapped her dad’s shoulder and he turned and emotion over took him. He hugged her and Rebecca gave him his Father’s Day card. Then the family sat and alongside Rebecca’s other bridesmaids they prayed. They prayed that the day would be one of joy for Ryan and Rebecca. A few minutes later, less than a mile away, Rebecca walked towards Ryan. He turned to see the woman for he had been anxiously waiting. They hugged, smiled and for the first time ever they shared a kiss. Rebecca gave Ryan the box, in which for years she had saved letters to her future husband. She had been a girl of fifteen when she had started writing. She did not know then who her husband would be, but she knew that on her wedding day, she would give him that box.
Family soon joined them and Rebecca and Ryan were surrounded with love and fun…including a kissing contest between their parents, groomsmen in super hero socks, a ring bearer who loved his toy car and many bridal party antics. Rebecca’s grandma appeared. They hugged her and she smiled. Rebecca held the bonnet her grandmother had given her at her first Christmas. with a note that said, “Little one, wear this with a smile, and when you are older, with a few snips carry it down the aisle.” And she did just that.
Ryan’s eyes never left Rebecca as she walked towards him. A tear rolled down his cheek. Before family and friends, who prayed for them, Rebecca and Ryan promised to love each other forever.
