Sarah and Tim’s 50’s Engagement- San Dimas

Things are important. Things like green trucks and pretty rings. They are important because they are part of a love story. A truck that belongs to your grandfather and ring on the girl who said, “Yes,” and will love you forever. Love is timeless.

Kimberlie and Alex’s Engagement- Corona del Mar

They went to the same high school but never noticed each other. Okay, Kimberlie noticed a girl who was always hanging on Alex and Alex always recognized Kimberlie when he went into Ralphs to shop, but other than that… they didn’t notice each other. (Sure guys. Your photographer believes you.)
Anyway, after they both had graduated Alex was helping with the Band after school where Kimberlie’s mom was a Booster. Kimberlie’s mom came home and told her daughter about someone she had to meet. Kimberlie raised her eyebrows. Mom had tried this before. Regardless, she went to help with the band banquet where Mom convinced them that the restaurant did not have Diet Coke and sent them both on a shopping trip to find soda, good conversation, shared interests and ultimately love.

It was Kimberlie’s birthday the day we took these pictures. I got her a Sprinkles Cupcake!

Happy Tears of Love… the best kind.

Kori and Jim’s Engagement- Balboa Park

“Nobody can ever find love. It is love that looks after us. And if it finds us, there’s no way to escape. It doesn’t choose nor force someone to love. Love is indeed a destiny.”

Jim couldn’t understand how his friend had a girl like that. She was beautiful. He stood up to shake her hand. Kori was impressed. With a group of friends, they went on a trip to the desert and they just kept noticing each other. Jim noticed that she was, down to earth and Kori noticed that he didn’t mess around. Sigh! They were both with other people. But Love is patient and Love is kind. Kori and Jim were meant to be together. Love and Destiny would have their way.

Sarah and Tim – Claremont College Engagement

Sometime love hangs around in the same place. For the Johnson Family it is Ace Hardware Store. Sarah’s mom Kathy had received her engagement ring there from Craig the manager himself and so love stayed around..waiting for the next couple.
Sarah first noticed Tim in aisle 4. He checked out at her register and invited her to a party. Sarah figured he was asking lots of girls, so she took her friend. The following day she was doing homework at his house and from then on, they were always together.
Tim proposed on the beach. Unbeknown to Sarah, his and her family were watching from the restaurant above. Neither could have guessed that with that first look in the hardware store, they were about to build their lives around a foundation of love and cement their fates to each other. (In case you guys didn’t get that…that was me trying to find a romantic metaphor that had to with stuff you find in a hardware store.)

Resendez Wedding- Red Hill Park, Upland

“Somewhere there’s a place, holding something, concealing someone, holding your fate, but only waiting for the time.”

The first time they saw each other they were both late. He was the security guard and she was the student studying English. But it was not the right time for either of them. Silvia’s friend was in love with Enrique. She sent him notes and presents. So Silvia stayed away. Enrique though always believed the notes and presents were from Silvia. One day, he finally sent her a note back. Silvia’s practical response to the messenger…”Tell him to say it in person.” Immediately she regretted what she had said. So she left school early knowing he would be at lunch. He returned from lunch early so there would be no chance of missing her. It was the right time. Destiny would have them meet on that corner away from school.

Enrique can’t stop making jokes. When I asked about how he had met the love of his life, he answered, “Mail Order Bride- Clearance Section.” Silvia laughs. You can tell she adores him. Their kids have inherited that awesome playfulness. When I asked them why they took so long in getting married he answered, “We were searching for the right photographer.” Yup. I gotta love him too.

Took a break for the ice-cream man! Then Silvia stole Enrique’s ice-cream. (She stole a cupcake from him on their first date too!)
