Mt. Baldy Family Photographer: Velázquez

The last time all of the members of this family appeared in one photo, the eldest was still not a teenager, his little brother had to be carried, and all of Pastor Oscar’s and Lidia’s grandchildren were boys. Since then three little girls have been added and teenagers and tweens are growing up. The kids might be growing up, but the adults remain as playful as ever. Henry, Oscar, Kathy, Alfred, and Jefrie still continue to all have their dad’s playfulness, but also their mom’s devotion to each other.

Kathy took this opportunity to announce to her family that she was now officially a broker.

Robert stood to the side as I photographed his wife Kathy. He took out his phone and took his own picture. After 16 years of marriage, she is still his princess and he is still her soul mate. Together, they have three sons and their love for them continues in their description for each other. Roberto calls her a loving wife and she calls him a perfect father.

I love seeing Brooke grow up in front of my camera. This year she is seven! Her parents describe her as caring, sassy and social and a kid that always shows love and care for others!

Mt. Baldy Engagement Photos / Pedro loves Jocelyn

Most couples go to the movies for their first date, but Pedro and Jocelyn actually met at the theater where they worked. Pedro saw a beautiful girl with brown curly hair, a great smile and eyes that he loved. Unfortunately, Jocelyn was dating someone else, and so, they just became friends. And even when Jocelyn’s other relationship had ended, they stayed friends.

They would hang out, going to Disneyland, trying new foods and even going on random drives to Malibu. They would talk about their families, past relationships and about life. Pedro was Jocelyn’s guy friend… a guy friend who liked her, but Jocelyn didn’t realize it or was just not interested.

It was on a trip to Canada with a group of friends that the realization literally hit her. Everyone was play fighting and so Pedro and Jocelyn joined in the fun. It was there, where when the lamp light shined on Pedro’s face, that all she could do was stare. It was something about the glow on his face, that told her, she liked him more than a friend. But as most love stories go, nothing changed. In fact, they got upset at each other on the trip and drove back to California, not in the happiest of moods.

Jocelyn knew she was upset even more because she realized she liked him. They met up and told each other how they felt. But Jocelyn did not want to ruin the friendship. She did not want to lose her guy friend. But Pedro was in love with the funny, caring girl who loved to travel. So he persisted and convinced her to give their relationship a try.

Fast forward 7 years in this love story. Pedro had decided that he would propose at the Grand Canyon. It had been the place of their first road trip together alone, and for them it was magical and mysterious. It was getting dark and so Pedro made Jocelyn and his brother speed walk. He told them that there was a glowing waterfall that needed to be seen in the sun. There was none. Jocelyn finally reached Pedro. He hugged her, started reading his notes and got on one knee to propose. His brother was recording, still wondering where the waterfall was. Jocelyn had officially lost her guy friend that day, but she said, “Of course,” to the best friend she would marry.

Mt. Baldy Engagement: Eric loves Natalie

They met in middle school and shared classes in high school and had a same group friends, but nothing else. They would have to be apart to see that they belonged together. They would go to two different universities. Eric went to UCLA and Natalie to UCI. It would be in their second year of college when Natalie would give Eric her number casually through Snapchat. Eric was falling in love and needed an excuse. So he asked Natalie if she wanted to study for a chemistry exam. Natalie did not take the hint and said, “No.” (In Natalie’s defense studying for a test is not a date.) It would take a couple of months for Eric to ask Natalie again. This time, studying was not involved and trip to the beach Corona Del Mar was. Natalie still wasn’t sure she was going on a date, but she did say, “Yes.” She did admire Eric. She had even told her college roommate the she always thought Eric was husband material. It just had not crossed her mind that Eric was a suitor. He was and soon Natalie would see that he was supportive, romantic and authentic. She was falling in love. Eric loved that Natalie was selfless, devoted and loving, so at the beach, under the moon, as it started to rain on August 2, 2014, Eric asked Natalie to be his girlfriend. Exactly 7 years later, they sat at the same beach and reflected about how far they had gone. This time, Eric did not hint at what he wanted. He wanted Natalie to be with him forever. He wanted her as his wife. So he took a deep breath, pulled out the ring and proposed. Natalie said, “Yes.”

(August 2, 2021 they see their engagement pictures. As the photographer, I love that this is happening on this date am part of it. Blessed to do what I love! )
