Grace E. Simmons Lodge Event Photography: Ali and Dan

Where does a love story begin for a couple is celebrating 40 years of marriage? For Ali and Dan, it began at Franklin High School in Los Angeles. He was a football player and she was on Drill Team. It was her birthday and Dan took the opportunity to ask Ali out. Their first date would be at the Santa Monica Pier. Dan knew he had the woman he wanted to marry and so he proposed…three times! Ali finally said yes. On July 2nd, 1983 at St. Ignatious of Loyola Catholic Church, Ali and Dan promised before God, family and friends to love each other forever.

They returned to the church. This time with their children as their wedding party. They commemorated their adventures together in a family celebration that showed everyone the power of love!

    DTLA Wedding: The Macias

All the emotions hit Evelyn as she walked into the church and saw Ruben. Their closest family and friends were sitting scattered throughout the church, wearing masks. Plans of their 300 people wedding had disappeared. It didn’t matter. They were getting married on the date decided over two years ago. So they thanked God for bringing them together an they vowed to love one another forever.

Los Angeles Wedding Photographer/ Bagramian Hall/ Marcos and Daisy

“I have a dream. I hope will come true. That you’ll grow old with me and I’ll grow old with you.” – I Lava You by James Ford Murphy

Twenty years had passed since Daisy had seen her soulmate for the first time. He was just a kid walking to Junior High. She didn’t know him or even know about him, but a strange sensation took hold. She felt as she had recognized someone. She had. That young kid would grow up, meet her, fall in love with her, become the father to their daughters Evelyn and Abigail and today he would be her husband.

She laughed and toasted with her bridesmaids, teared up when her mom adjusted her veil, then she exited her house to find a beautiful, classic, white car that her mom and siblings had gotten her to ride on her wedding day. She sat on the steps of the house, for a second, and talked to her daughters, who lovingly looked at their mommy. They climbed in and happily rode to where their daddy was waiting.

Marcos stood on the side of Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe House waiting. The moment Daisy touched his shoulder, he smiled, turned and smiled even more. A few moments later his daughter would also run to him. His life was complete with his three girls. A few hours later, Daisy and Marcos would pick up their children and dance to the song , “I Lava You.” Dreams do come true.

All together now, their lava grew and grew. No longer are they all alone, with Aloha as their new home. And when you visit them, this is what they sing, “I have a dream, I hope will come true. That you’ll grow old with me and I’ll grow old with you. We thank the earth… sea, the sky, we thank too. I lava you! I lava you! I lava you!”

Luxe City Hotel Wedding: Marcus and Patricia

They had refused to call it a wedding. This was just two families coming together and having a party. At least that is what Patricia kept saying. Yet, their enthusiasm for their day was evident when with their fashionable wedding clothes. Patricia looked Hollywood Glamorous on the stairs of the Luxe City Hotel and Marcus literally stopped traffic with his gold shoes.

This was the day he was marrying the girl he had swiped right on Tinder and had hoped was real. She was. Just as he had waited anxiously to meet Patricia in person for their first date, once again he waited to see her as his bride.

Patricia tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and they both smiled. He opened his jacket and showed off the memories. He had lined his suit with pictures of their engagement. With skyscrapers behind them and traffic below, Patricia and Marcus shared their first kiss on their wedding day.

The wind blew harder as they shared their vows. Heaven had sent a message. They were married. Mariachi played and they did the ultimate poses to get a party started. The party raged. But Patricia and Marcus were going to make their wedding even more memorable. And so Rick James and Teena Marie made an appearance. It was definitely a party!

Exposition Park Los Angeles Engagement: Marcus loves Trisha

Marcus swiped right on Patricia’s picture. What was supposed to be a “Tinder,” meet up was not. Patricia was still technically living in Seattle. So they messaged for a couple of weeks until Patricia moved back in November. Once again meeting each other got delayed, because now Marcus was working crazy hours. Finally, on the Tuesday before Christmas Eve, they met. They did not know it then, but Tuesday before Christmas Eve would always be considered their anniversary.

They met at LA Live and had dinner at the Yard House. It would not be until their third date when they shared a kiss. Trisha had won at bowling at Lucky Strike. (Marcus accused her of cheating.) Since she was already winning, she celebrated victory at Rosa Mexicano with pomegranate margaritas and moved in for their first kiss. Seeing each other was difficult. They lived on opposite sides of LA county. This by Southern California standards is considered a long distance relationship. But after every date, Marcus would take Tricia all the way home to her parent’s house, so she would not have to take the bus or train back by herself. Tricia knew she was loved and moved closer to him.

For her 30th birthday, they went to Jamaica. The trip was delayed by a hurricane, but nothing was going to delay the plans that Marcus had. After a night swim in the Luminous Lagoon in Jamaica, where the bacteria in the lagoon lights up and hovers around you, Patricia only wanted a shower, to order room service and relax. Marcus insisted on taking a picture. There she was at the edge of the bed with wet hair when Marcus got down on one knee and asked the big question! Trisha said, “Yes,” to forever .
