The 1909 Malibu- Carlos and Victor

A few months before, Victor and Carlos celebrated with the nation the Supreme Court Ruling allowing them to marry. Now, on their wedding day, they celebrated with their family and friends. As Carlos said, “I never could have imagined that one day we would get married and if I could imagine that, I really never imagined that my family and my friends would be here.” They were. And time and time again they kept saying that Carlos and Victor were the example of what a marriage should be.. devoted, unselfish, and caring.
The words from the Supreme Court Ruling were read…

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were. The nature of marriage is that, through its enduring bond, two persons together can find other freedoms, such as expression, intimacy, and spirituality. This is true for all persons, whatever their sexual orientation. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

Tears rolled as Carlos and Victor exchanged vows, not just by them but by every person present. Victor, promised, “We will grow old together and I will look at your face and it will still be beautiful.” Their forever had begun.

Los Angeles Engagement Session- Carlos loves Victor

They had both noticed each other in passing in the first days of college. Just a glance. Nothing more. It was in a computer lab where they both actually looked and Victor had the courage to speak to Carlos. “Are you Gay?,” he asked. Carlos looked up at the man he had been admiring and lied, “No.” Victor rapidly walked away and Carlos immediately regretted his answer. He stood up and walked.. ran after him. He caught up and started explaining. They both had their fears. Neither of them were out. Their room mates, friends and family had no idea the secret they kept, and so began a romance, a love that was worth fighting for and that never should be hidden.
