Monica looked beautiful in her white dress. The nerves started the moment she got to the church. She started to walk down the aisle, but suddenly stopped. Everyone was looking. She was scared. She couldn’t do it. She stopped walking towards the altar. There was no one up there that she wanted to walk up to. She turned to leave. Plot twist. Monica was the flower girl at my wedding. She was two years old. Nothing will be holding her back as she walks down the aisle to the man she loves.
Monica received Edgar’s profile from Coffee Meets Bagel and she was intrigued. There were pictures of him at the Colosseum in Rome which showed that just like her, he liked to travel. He had gone to USC, where she had gotten her Masters. All this and he was attractive. She clicked. He messaged.
After verifying with mutual friends that the other was not a creep, they went on their first date to Saint & Second in Belmont Shore. The moment Monica walked in, Edgar knew she was the one that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He loved that she was soft spoken, that she was intelligent and of course beautiful.
That first date included nerves, a little food, Moscow Mules and an amazing conversation. They had so much in common. They were both first generation college students. They had both grown up playing soccer. They both shared the same family values. Monica didn’t want the date to end. But the car meter’s time was up.
Monica soon knew that he was the partner she wanted. He balanced her and made her complete. Together, they were a great team, their values aligned and the bond was amazing. This was the man she wanted as a partner and a father to her children.
They went ring shopping together. Monica found the ring she loved, but it was just too expensive. They continued shopping. After 3 or 4 shopping appointments, Edgar was frustrated and confessed that he had already ordered a ring and planned to propose on the their upcoming trip to Cancun. Now, Monica would not be surprised. Leave it to a man in love to make sure a woman is happy. Edgar went to the jeweler and asked him to email him that the ring, unfortunately, would not be ready for the trip. He did. Edgar showed Monica the email and gave her and Oscar-worthy performance. She knew it would be a beautiful trip… but without a proposal.
On the third night of their vacation, they walked along the beach, as a gorgeous pink sunset draped the sky, Monica was thinking that things could not be more perfect when Edgar got down on one knee and asked Monica to be his forever. He held the original ring and her heart. Shocked and excited, Monica said, “Yes,” to the man she loved.
