I am blessed to be a wedding photographer. I get to capture the ultimate promise of love. Sometimes, it is not just the bride and groom who become my friends, but their bridal party, family and friends. Gina and her husband Jeremy are a perfect example of that. Their youngest son Cole was a newborn when I shot Gina’s cousin’s wedding. Now she chases and picks up in her arms two adorable boys. Cole became a big brother to Jace.

I remember asking Diana, years ago, how she had met her husband. (Yes, I am a romantic. I am fascinated by love stories.) She said that Malik was a guy that she kept trying to set up with her friends, then she realized, “Wait. Why do I want anyone else to have him?” I also remember her plans on starting a family, the first time she announced she was expecting and the first time I saw Leila, chubby cheeks and big eyes staring back at me. She was the kid that hung out with mommy and her friends in what we called Lemur Meetings. Before I knew it, Leila had a sister… Aleya. Yes, Malik has his hands full with three beautiful women in his life…. the calm one that loves to be in his arms, the one who will be a model (feeling sorry for the boys that try to date her and have to meet her daddy) and the one who will run circles around him. Love is a beautiful family.

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies. ~Rudy Giuliani
