Happy Birthday Stephanie!

A few years ago, a girl walked into It’s a Grind with the hope of learning Wedding Photography Business from me. I ruled her out as a stalker and claimed her as my best friend. She is fun, caring, an extremely good listener, and an amazing assistant and photographer. For so many reasons I love her.  Here they are…

Happy Birthday Stephanie_3454

I love her because she sits and pretends to be a bride while I find my settings…

Because of  her amazing sense of fashion.

I love her because she let’s me be me.   Happy Birthday Stephanie_3455

Because she never makes fun of me because I tear up during the emotional parts of the wedding. Many times she’s crying right next to me.

Because my clients love her.

Because she works well with others…

Because she can hold a reflector, a diffuser, hold a water bottle, hang a wedding dress, hold a led light and still smile at he end of the night holding a sparkler.

Whether she’s working as my second photographer or as my assistant, she is amazing.

And though even sometimes she looks at me with a look that says, “What the heck are you doing?,”…

I know she will hold my hand through it all…

Happy Birthday STEP ON ME!!!  Blessed to do what I love and have you in my life!

Tyler Wadsworth: Photographer for A Story in Time

He is the guy who understands, “light,” better than anyone. Grooms, and groomsmen love him.  He will patiently redirect a reflector and will climb on that chair, ladder…. or rock to take a group shot. He helps me, “steal,” golf carts and finds nothing wrong with racing the bride and groom in the other one. He never makes fun of me when I tear up during a wedding, but will always laugh with me on the ride home remembering the day. He captures amazing images for me. He is my first second photographer, but more importantly, he is my friend. Happy Birthday Tyler! Love ya!

Silver 25th Wedding Anniversary- Jesus loves Jessie

What does love mean after 25 years? It means knowing that Spiderman and Marvel characters will take over not one room of my home but two… and that I will encourage him to buy more. It means that I will hug a camera before I hug him, but he knows I love him and that every holiday he will ask me if he can buy me a new lens or what photography gadget I need. It means that the last words to me before I leave for a wedding are, “Have fun!,” and the first words I will hear when I come back will be, “How did it go?” It means knowing that he will not call or text me all day because he doesn’t feel well. It means that I will call him a hundred times an hour anyway. It means that we can’t find our wedding rings. (Yup.. we took them off because we both hated wearing rings and safely put them away…somewhere.) It means that he has accepted the fact that I can’t cook, don’t want to cook, have no time to cook, won’t cook and I accepting the fact that he refuses to try new places to eat. It means that he has given up on trying to make me organized…my closet and drawers will always be a mess. It means that I have learned not to move anything in his garage. It means that he will spend his money on Legos and movies, but he will always put a bottle of wine on the shopping list even though he doesn’t drink. Love means that I miss him…. that I wish he felt better… love means that he knows.

    Jesse Ulloa

I tell him that I love him for all the hair on his head, his millions of dollars and his collection of antique cars. The truth, there’s a lot of reasons. He is the guy I can call to bring me a control so the wedding slideshow will play that I forgot and he will drive 20 miles out of his way to bring it. He is the guy that will help me shoot an emergency engagement session for an out of town couple on Christmas Eve and then have hot dogs as Christmas Eve dinner at Sam’s Club. (True Story.) He is the guy that says, “Let’s go to breakfast,” and will take me in sweats and no make up. (Wish this wasn’t a true story.) He is the guy who will scrub his hands raw after a long day in a body shop to make sure he can look presentable in front of my clients. He is the guy that will not discourage me from standing on a ledge 40 feet above the ground to get the shot…instead he will hold me and make sure I don’t fall. He is my body guard for celebrity events, keeping me and my camera safe and even though he wants to brag, he can keep a secret. I can vent and he will listen and pray with me and for me and for those I love. He will talk me through it and make me laugh. I love him because he loves his kids. I love him for his faith. I love him for the respect he has for me. He can pretend to be tough, but when he smiles I see dimples. Love you lots Jesse Ulloa. Happy Birthday BFF!

William “Billy” Rheaume- Behind the Story…. in Time.

He always arrives early and helps me load the bags in the car. He stands on chairs and lies on the ground to get the best shot. He will carry a bride’s train, so it doesn’t get dirty. He is always polite and respectful to the bride, the bridesmaids and the parents, but will become, “One of the guys,” in a heartbeat. He will make a diffuser out of a white piece of paper he found on the ground and a rubber band. (True story, I was there.) He takes amazing images for me knowing that the words, “A Story in Time”, will be etched on them and in the memory of others.

Thank you Bill for all the above, but also thank you for the stories of your little girls, watching out for Silvia and I during the reception and our late night treks through a dark parking lot, putting up with my blank looks as you discuss technical matters, listening to Silvia and I ramble about girl stuff and for letting me make fun of your shirt, but most of all for your friendship and making every wedding we shoot together a blast!
