They were in Junior High and far from being in love. Albert would remind Pearl later that she had been an aide during their Art Class. He had obviously noticed her, but it would take years before he would ask her out.
Fast forward to after high school. Pearl was working in the jewelry store piercing ears. Little did she know that she would be piercing Albert’s heart. Albert had been told, “You’ve got to see this girl.” He recognized her, so he twirled the jewelry case as Pearl did inventory. She looked up to see the him. But once again, sparks didn’t fly. They lost contact again until Pearl started working in a Phone Booth at the mall. Albert would spend lunch time with her. They were friends and that was all. Finally, one night Albert asked for a kiss and Pearl gave in to his request.
It was the look she gave him… that stare that told him she loved him that got him. He was in love. She felt for him what she had never felt for anyone else. She called it, “A love like no other.”
As children in junior hIgh, they had crossed each other’s paths, as adults they had decided to follow the same path… forever with each other.
