Chad and Tracey’s love story have all the makings of a country musical. It started with a party. All Chad had to do was deliver balloons, he did, but he also fell in love with the hostess at the wine bar. Through out the party he made excuses to see her. After a couple of drinks, he managed to convince the bar’s musician to lend him his guitar. In true romantic movie fashion, Chad added Tracey’s name to the lyrics and sung to the entire lobby. Of course, Tracey was the only one in the lobby, but she couldn’t help to think he was the sweetest and sexiest man at that moment.
With the chaos of the party and the impromptu show, Chad never got Tracey’s number. So Tracey relied on her female superpowers of social media stalking, that all real women have, to find him. After a few days of non-stop conversations and flirting, she finally asked, “Are you going to ask me out or what?” Chad did and their first date was a typical summer evening of going to the movies and ice cream, but they were so focused on each other that neither could remember what movie they saw. During their conversations, Chad learned that country music and line dancing were Tracey’s favorite things. On their way back to the car, he stopped her in the middle of the parking lot. He turned his car on, fumbled for a song and when he ran back, grabbed her hand and spun her around to the tune of country music. Their first dance in the parking lot ended in their first kiss.
Chad had written music his whole life. Tracey wanted a song of her own. For the last six years, whenever they had sat around a camp fire, she had asked him for one. On a trip up in Kern River, Tracey asked again, “When am I getting my song.” This time Chad laughed and said, “Tonight.” The song didn’t give away what it was leading to, until the last couple of lines. Chad quickly set the guitar down and got on one knee asking if Tracey would marry him. She said, “Yes!”
