The name of the gym was The Camp Transformation Center. Neither Nick nor Ivania knew that the camp would live up to its name and transform them…just not in the way they thought. Nick joined Ivania’s training group and Ivania was upset since she didn’t want anyone else in the group. Nick noticed that Ivania did nothing but talk and talk and talk. He thought in his head, “Does she ever shut up?”
Obviously, Nick wanted to hear more because he messaged Ivania to tell her he had finished his weight loss challenge and asked her if she had met her goal. Nick and Ivania did not know it then, but different challenges and new goals were being set up for them. They had nothing to do with weight loss and everything to do with love.
After a day of training and a day before he left with his family on vacation, Nick asked Ivania to In N Out. Their first kiss would be a week later. Nick knew then he had found the one. In a short time of hanging out with her he felt they had known each other for years. Ivania couldn’t stop getting butterflies or smiling.
If life seemed perfect it wasn’t. Ivania was facing brain surgery. She loved Nick so much that she gave him an out. But there was no sending Nick away. He loved her for her strength and independence. It didn’t matter what was wrong with her, he knew that together they could face anything. If anything this obstacle would only make them stronger. He wanted to marry his best friend.
Fourth of July weekend would bring both of their families and friends together. Gift bags were passed out with ring pops in them. Ivania’s bag was royal blue, her favorite color. Her ring pop had the #1 on it. Nick called out numbers and the winners were receiving gift cards and taking pictures with Nick. Ivania was hoping her number would get her a Starbuck card! Her number was called.
Ivania walked up with her ring pop. Nick handed her a goodie bag and took a picture with her. Nick then put his arm around her and said, “So babe you know that this isn’t just a pig roast? You know that I love you very much and we’ve talked about spending the rest of our lives together? Ivania will you marry me?” Ivania burst into to tears and nodded her head. Her favorite song “From the Ground Up,” was playing in the background. Nick got down on one knee. Ivania had always told him that even if he proposed with a ring pop, she would still say, “Yes.” Her ring was real and so was the love.
(Ivania was my 8th grade student…and yeah. She talked a lot.)
