Turned out he lived close by, so on a day she needed a friend to hang out with, she invited him to the Farmer’s Market. They stopped to buy Mother’s Day Cards and soon they were acting them out in the aisle. Now, they are getting married…

Old Ranch Country Club Wedding- Aurora and Chris

The only thing that calmed Aurora’s nerves was knowing that she was marrying Chris. She walked down the stairs, tapped him on the shoulder and he turned and saw his beautiful bride. Chris towers over her…(well he towers over everybody.) The obvious love that he has for her is gigantic. He gently held her and told her that she looked beautiful and that he loved her. She smiled and cried happy tears. The fairy tale was about to come true…Chris was not her giant but instead her prince charming.

Pasadena Wedding Photography- Yliana and Hannover

Yliana wanted to see him. He was waiting for her. She knew it….but time was passing and the time for her wedding was getting closer and closer. Was there still enough time for a First Look? Yes! And so Yliana walked towards Hannover tapped him on the shoulder and he turned and there were smiles, tears and Yliana got to hear the words, “You look amazing! I love you,” from the man who in a short time would promise before family and God to love her forever.
They were married by the priest who saw Hannover grow up in the church where Yliana had received every sacrament.
We traveled through the city of Pasadena stopping where ever we wanted…capturing images that would one day would be shown to their children…and grand-children. And so Hannover, in his toast to his bride, said what Time certainly knew…“I have waited for this day. I’m looking forward to growing old with you.” Time was theirs now… to always be shared.

Tanabata-Landon and Noriko

Sometimes the stars align, and world you live in is perfect…and sometimes….
Landon was an adult American English teacher in Japan, with a pretty student in his classroom. He did his best at keeping his distance, keeping it professional, but in the end his heart won over his mind. Their first date was to see Tanabata- a love story of two lovers who can only see each other one day a year, when the stars align. The others days, they are kept apart, yearning to be with each other. (Read the legend here.) Little did Landon and Noriko know then that soon their lives would mimic those characters.
On March 11th, 2011 Japan suffered a 9.0 earthquake, followed by tsunami and then a nuclear reactor melt down. As was expected, both of their families wanted them close to them. Landon’s family demanded he come home to the United States and Noriko’s parents begged her to move back, and so they left the home they had made together. but continued holding each other close in their hearts, hoping to soon be in each other arms again.
Landon stood at the LAX terminal holding a dozen red roses, anxiously looking at the doors. I’m sure others wondered, but only I asked and he told me his story. The following images are the story my camera told of this part of Landon and Noriko’s love story… when after two years of being apart, they got to see each other again.

She is a talented, beautiful little girl who competes in pageants. Giggles. Lots of smiles and giggles. And the lucky photographer got a hug and a bouquet of lavender flowers!

Valerie loves her big sister and wanted some pictures with her. We both begged and pleaded for Vicky to get in front of her camera.

Claremont Engagement- David and Amanda

Sometimes God has two gifts for you- a baby and a man to love you, but these gifts are not sent at the same time. On their first date, Amanda did not know she was a month pregnant. What would have made other men run, in the end, made David stay. How do you become a Daddy to someone else’s baby? But on the day Kylee was born and he saw her , he said, “I know I’m not going anywhere.” If that was complicated, the proposal was too. He planned to ask Amanda to marry him at the end of sunset horse ride. It would be a quiet intimate moment… it didn’t happen. So the quiet intimate moment happened instead at the Hard Rock Club with a microphone in his hand with a crowd of strangers watching, listening and cheering. Did not matter if they were alone or in front of hundreds of people, Amanda’s answer would always be, “Yes.”

Baby Announcement- Nakia and Josh Brener

Nakia and Josh go bike riding, mountain climbing, skate boarding, snorkeling, snow boarding, sky diving, play every sport and are champion sumo wrestlers. Okay…I’m lying about that last one. Their kid is going to be one of those babies that knows how to swim before he or she can walk, will probably wear a head cam instead of baby bonnet and will receive a dirt bike for his or her first birthday. I love that kid already! Watch out world, this baby is coming in October!

Corona del Mar Engagement- Robert and Dennise

Robert was hanging out with his friends when she came out of the house and immediately he wanted to meet her. His friend, her uncle, told him to stay away, but he knew she was special. Did not matter that another girl was making moves on him, he wanted to hang out with her. So behind the uncle’s back who is now the best man in this wedding, they exchanged pager numbers. Yup… pagers. Remember those? They sent each other messages, saw each other when they could and proved to their friends, families and the world that nothing could keep them apart.

Fullerton Arboretum- Jimmy and Rachel

Some love stories are simple…you’re meant to meet, to become friends and to eventually…fall in love. Sometimes that last part is the one that takes a while. Rachel met Jimmy when she was just 13 years old and he was 14. It was the summer before high school. They hung out with the same group of people and became very close, but if opposites attract, these two did not. They were just too different to make it work…Fast forward to years of being friends, to running into each other at a friends party where they talked about how much they had always cared about each other, and since then…they have been together. Their love story is simply…Best friends in love!
