Oak Glen Engagement: Pedro loves Ashley

The pretty girl with the beautiful smile in class had caught his eye. If Pedro was waiting for the right time to talk her, it came early. Their Humanities professor put them in the same group. After class, Pedro approached her to ask her out. Before he could say anything, Ashley stuttered, “Do you want to borrow my book?” In the end, Ashley agreed to go out with him, but strangely, they never exchanged numbers. As luck would have it, the day that they planned on going out after class, Ashley was late. To make matters worse, class was cancelled. Pedro waited. Left. Ashley showed up, not to find him. If this is the usual scene for every other romantic story where two star crossed lovers can not meet, what happened at the next class was far from it. Ashley came to class and said hello to Pedro as if nothing had happened. Pedro passed her a note that said, “Why did you ditch me as*#%le?” Ashley read the note and gasped in shock and said, “I’m not an as*#%le.” They stared, smiled at each other and laughed. They would always make each other smile and laugh. They left class that day together and together they would remain.

Motorcycle Engagement: José loves Alejandra

They knew of each other, but their paths had not crossed. So José slipped into her DM on Instagram. Alejandra didn’t trust him enough to meet him at her house, so their first meeting would be in parking lot. It didn’t take long for them to be on their way to Moon Shadows in Malibu for dinner. And if Alejandra had been hesitant of accepting a first date, she wasn’t about giving him the first kiss. José loved her because she was gorgeous and loyal. But she was also the girl who he could laugh and joke with. Alejandra loved his character. He was sweet and she loved his attention to detail. José knew no other girl would hold his heart or sit on his motorcycle. In the same restaurant as their first date, Jose proposed to the woman he loved. Alejandra said, “Yes,” to forever.

Corona Skyline Engagement: Rueben loves Sammy

He was the football player, but she wasn’t the cheerleader. She was the water girl. Rueben noticed her the moment she she entered the team’s weight room. Even though Sammy found him cute, she friend zoned him. They became best friends. Everyone, including their mothers, kept seeing that there was so much more there. But Sammy did not want to ruin the friendship. She was in denial

It would be at a friend’s 18th birthday party when Rueben edged out of the friend zone and onto Sammy’s heart. He kissed her. Sammy admitted that it was the best feeling ever. The next day, she could not stop thinking about it. Officially, she became his girlfriend on her birthday. Up on a hill, with a view of Corona below and a star studded sky above, Rueben made it clear that Sammy was so much more than a friend. Sammy could no longer deny what she felt for Rueben either.

The feelings that Sammy had for Rueben became stronger as she realized that the man who loved her were the same reasons she had kept him as a friend. He showed her a huge amount of respect, kept her motivated when things got tough and always knew how to keep her laughing. He always believed in her no matter what she did in her life. Their faith made them stronger together.

Rueben knew he wanted Sammy beside him forever. So he took her on a trip to San Diego to go Parasailing. Up above, enjoying the ocean view, Sammy thought of how amazing it was to be loved by Rueben. They landed. And that’s when all of Rueben’s carefully laid plans went wrong. Rueben wanted Sammy to turn the corner with him to check the prices for paddle boarding, but Sammy was barefoot, wet and just wanted to get her things together, so she went up the staircase instead leaving Rueben looking shocked. As Sammy turned the corner, she saw her best friend. She asked, “What the heck are you doing here?” Her best friend stood there with her mouth wide open. Sammy turned to see Rueben kneeling down. She burst into tears. An entire crowd, consisting of family and friends came out cheering, holding a sign that said, “Will you marry me?” The proposal had not gone as expected, but then again Love never follows rules. Sammy said, “yes,” to her best friend.

Engagement: Amado loves Silvia

Dance as if no one is watching… Love as if you have never been hurt before… And Live as though heaven is on earth.

True love is something that one is always surprised with when it happens. You might even deny it at first. Say that is not the right time, go against your heart and pretend that it is not meant to be, but in the end destiny and love always wins. Amado walked into the dance studio and the first thing Silvia thought was, “Great. Another guy that can’t dance.” If on the dance floor, they were not going to sync right away, they did in conversations. Soon they were friends. They denied that they could ever be more. But before they knew it, they were caught up in the music and a kiss on the dance floor. Silvia once told me that Amado gave her so much love that if he stopped loving her now, it would be okay, because she had enough to last her a lifetime. Amado could never imagine his life without her by her side.

Pasadena Engagement: Scott loves Sonia

Sonia and her best friend Lily wanted to go to see Martin Garrix in Las Vegas. Lily’s husband did not want them going alone, yet he did not want to be the only guy on the trip, so he asked his friend Scott to join them.

Sonia feared that the trip would turn into an unwanted, “double date weekend, ”  with someone she had just met, but Scott was super respectful and friendly. Sonia enjoyed every moment along his side and was happy when the next weekend Lily texted her that Scott had asked her permission to hang out with her. Her number was given and the texting began.

Their first date would be at Tony’s on the pier in Redondo Beach. They talked and laughed and began falling in love, but at her brother’s wedding Sonia would still introduce him as her friend. The following day, Scott officially asked her out ending forever the “just friends,” introduction.

For Sonia and Scott the weekends, were special because Scott traveled for work. Every Sunday, he would leave and an entire week would pass before they would get to see each other again. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and Sonia knew she was in love.

For Scott, the love story had unknowingly started long before Vegas. He actually remembered meeting Sonia before. He had sat across from Sonia and her date at his friend’s graduation. He had no clue then, but the girl he had noticed at the party and the girl he had fun a the concert was the one he would ask to be his wife.

Asking Sonia to marry him, would not be the difficult part. It would be asking Sonia’s mother for their blessing. She was not responding to text messages or phone calls. One hour before he proposed, Scott got the blessing. They were in San Diego. After breakfast, they walked along the water. The day was beautiful. It had rained the entire night the day before. They stopped to look at a fountain in Water Front Park. There he told Sonia how much he loved her, how happy he was to be with her and out of nowhere pulled out a beautiful ring. Sonia was so caught off guard that she buried her face in his chest and just kept repeating, “No, No, No” because she couldn’t believe it. Scott smiled because he knew what she meant, but still asked her, “So you’re saying, ‘no,’?” Sonia immediately looked at him and said, “Yes. Of course,” and gave him the biggest hug. “Then put this ring on before I drop it!” Sonia did and like always…. they both laughed.
