Kauai Engagement Photography: John loves Kellie

Kellie logged into her Match.com account to see that a handsome guy, in a suit and toasting drink, had “Winked,” at her. Soon John called her and they were spending hours on the phone talking every night. They would stay up late, regardless that they had to be at work early the next day.
John asked her out and drove from Gardena to BJ’s in Chino. It was exactly a 49.4 mile drive. They both had written that 50 miles was the longest they would drive to meet someone. Another half a mile in distance, and they would have never met. It was obvious that the distance did not bother John, for the following date, he took Kellie to Long Beach. They spent the entire day together visiting the aquarium, riding the ferris wheel and walking along the pier. Their second date ended with their first kiss.
For their third date, John took Kellie to watch The Lakers play. The seats were spectacular. You could see the sweat dripping off the players. Little did Kellie know then that John was not really into basketball or sports for that matter. He was just obviously into her.
It would be on a trip to Laughlin, sitting on a bench at the river’s edge where John would tell Kellie for the first time he loved her.
John not only made Kellie happy, but everyone in her family. He was soon there for all extended family functions. He made an effort to talk to her brothers, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. He would bring the entertainment for everyone, whether it was a corn-hole, a karaoke set or a dice game. Kellie’s family began to call him, “Fun John.” Kellie loved his generous nature and how he put others before himself. She was in love.
A love like this deserves two proposals. The first happened in their kitchen. Kelly had given John sass that morning, reminding him that he had said that by the year 2018, they would be married. It was already March. The hint that planning a wedding would take time had became an outright declaration of facts on Kelly’s part. That evening, John asked Kelly’s father for her hand. Then he asked Kelly if he needed his proposal to be somewhere special. Kelly answered, “If we were on vacation, I would probably be expecting it and I’d rather be surprised. I would be more surprised, if you were to just come home one night during the week and ask me.” Kelly was playing with the dog, as they were talking. She turned to see John on his knee with a ring. He had surprised her.
But John was not done. On the a beautiful beach in Kauai, John proposed again, telling Kelly, “I never envisioned proposing to you in Harbor City in the kitchen. I always thought I would do it somewhere, like here. So will you marry me?” Of course, Kellie said, “Yes!”

Mt. Baldy Engagement: Chad loves Tracey

Chad and Tracey’s love story have all the makings of a country musical. It started with a party. All Chad had to do was deliver balloons, he did, but he also fell in love with the hostess at the wine bar. Through out the party he made excuses to see her. After a couple of drinks, he managed to convince the bar’s musician to lend him his guitar. In true romantic movie fashion, Chad added Tracey’s name to the lyrics and sung to the entire lobby. Of course, Tracey was the only one in the lobby, but she couldn’t help to think he was the sweetest and sexiest man at that moment.
With the chaos of the party and the impromptu show, Chad never got Tracey’s number. So Tracey relied on her female superpowers of social media stalking, that all real women have, to find him. After a few days of non-stop conversations and flirting, she finally asked, “Are you going to ask me out or what?” Chad did and their first date was a typical summer evening of going to the movies and ice cream, but they were so focused on each other that neither could remember what movie they saw. During their conversations, Chad learned that country music and line dancing were Tracey’s favorite things. On their way back to the car, he stopped her in the middle of the parking lot. He turned his car on, fumbled for a song and when he ran back, grabbed her hand and spun her around to the tune of country music. Their first dance in the parking lot ended in their first kiss.
Chad had written music his whole life. Tracey wanted a song of her own. For the last six years, whenever they had sat around a camp fire, she had asked him for one. On a trip up in Kern River, Tracey asked again, “When am I getting my song.” This time Chad laughed and said, “Tonight.” The song didn’t give away what it was leading to, until the last couple of lines. Chad quickly set the guitar down and got on one knee asking if Tracey would marry him. She said, “Yes!”

Japanese Engagement Photography: John loves Kellie

Kellie not only loves her fiancé John, but his mom as well. John’s mom only had sons and this would be her first American Wedding. So when she wanted to incorporate Japanese culture into the wedding, Kellie happily agreed to a Kimono Engagement Session. This made both of their parents excited and happy. John is Issei, first generation born in the USA and Kellie is Yonsei, fourth generation. Kellie a wore a Furisode Kimono, which is worn by unmarried women. John wore traditional Hakama (men’s kimono pants) and Haori (kimono jacket).
If Japanese traditions are serious, the seriousness soon got overshadowed by John and Kellie’s playful, energetic and goofy relationship. At one point, there was a modeling contest… which John says he won and a sword fight with Monsters coming out the water. (Please note, the monster appearing in this session was not harmed and got along beautifully with the coy fish. You can find him at Krome.)

She said yes! Stephanie said yes to Jesse

Mickey set them up! They were put in the same group to train to work at Disneyland. Neither of the them were supposed to be there. Jesse was supposed to be interviewing as a security guard and Stephanie had not been able to complete her online questionnaire. Yet, Tinker Bell must have waved her wand because they both found each other in the same room. They both were also already in relationships. It didn’t matter, they still caught each other’s attention. Soon they were friends… friends who secretly liked each other. Once Stephanie was asked by coworker if she liked anyone. Jesse’s back was turned and she gestured towards him. Soon she was describing why she liked him so much. Jesse heard her and actually got sad because he thought she was describing someone else.
Stephanie called Jesse Disney Buddy. Jesse would tell her that her Prince Charming would come. They were keeping their feeling to themselves because neither of them wanted to admit it, yet both of these characters wanted a happy ending with each other. Eventually there was no hiding how either of them felt. At a Disney Party, they watched their first scary movie and held hands under a pillow. They talked all night and shared a kiss. Soon they were inseparable. They carpooled and they hung out before and after work. They had every conversation imaginable on everything from world issues to the lyrics of songs in horror movies. They shared the same cynical sense of humor and the curiosity to experience all that life offered.
Stephanie loved Jesse because he was selfless and patient. Jesse loved her because she was a genuinely good person. While she wore her heart on her sleeve. Jesse wore a matter of fact badge on his, but with Stephanie his true feelings came out.
They complimented each other perfectly. Her weaknesses were his strengths. His weaknesses were her strengths. When Jesse did not believe in himself, Stephanie did. When Stephanie had doubts, Jesse believed in her. They loved each others smiles. They both wanted to be the reason the other smiled.
And so Jesse asked Stephanie to be his forever. Her Disney Buddy had always been her Prince Charming. She said, Yes to the man she loved.

Casita de Arroyo Engagement: Manny loves Linda

Love begins sometimes in the strangest conditions. Linda was dating Manny’s house mate and one of their first conversations would ironically be about divorce… their parents’. Before long, they were not just bonding over on how to deal with a broken family, but on everything else. They had so much in common that on their first date they talked for hours until the restaurant closed. Neither still wanted the night to end. And so love had begun.
Linda could always be herself around Manny. She could be silly, fun or strong. Manny loved her not just because she was beauty and brains, but because she valued family. “I saw how she was with her family and mine and that kind of put the #wifeymaterial stamp on it.” Before long, Manny was introducing Linda to his neighbors as his soulmate.
Beauty and Brains is seriously the best to describe the woman Manny loves. Linda received a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. At her graduation party, the last speech would be Manny’s. With both of their families there to witness, Manny dropped to one knee and asked Linda to be his. There were screams of joy as Linda said,“Yes,” to forever.
