Exposition Park Los Angeles Engagement: Marcus loves Trisha

Marcus swiped right on Patricia’s picture. What was supposed to be a “Tinder,” meet up was not. Patricia was still technically living in Seattle. So they messaged for a couple of weeks until Patricia moved back in November. Once again meeting each other got delayed, because now Marcus was working crazy hours. Finally, on the Tuesday before Christmas Eve, they met. They did not know it then, but Tuesday before Christmas Eve would always be considered their anniversary.

They met at LA Live and had dinner at the Yard House. It would not be until their third date when they shared a kiss. Trisha had won at bowling at Lucky Strike. (Marcus accused her of cheating.) Since she was already winning, she celebrated victory at Rosa Mexicano with pomegranate margaritas and moved in for their first kiss. Seeing each other was difficult. They lived on opposite sides of LA county. This by Southern California standards is considered a long distance relationship. But after every date, Marcus would take Tricia all the way home to her parent’s house, so she would not have to take the bus or train back by herself. Tricia knew she was loved and moved closer to him.

For her 30th birthday, they went to Jamaica. The trip was delayed by a hurricane, but nothing was going to delay the plans that Marcus had. After a night swim in the Luminous Lagoon in Jamaica, where the bacteria in the lagoon lights up and hovers around you, Patricia only wanted a shower, to order room service and relax. Marcus insisted on taking a picture. There she was at the edge of the bed with wet hair when Marcus got down on one knee and asked the big question! Trisha said, “Yes,” to forever .
