If love is a game, it is played with a ball. At one point, the ball is in someone’s court. What one chooses to do with that ball could cause anyone playing to win or lose. Michael and Desiree met because their best friends were cousins. It was not love at first sight, but shy Desiree had caught Michael’s attention. After hanging out almost every weekend together with friends, Michael made the first move. He walked Desiree to her car and spilled his heart out. He told her, “The ball is in your court.” Desiree response was, “Okay, I’ll see what I’ll do with the ball.” Since there are no rules in the game of love, Michael did not let her go until he got a kiss.
Michael had asked Desiree out several times.. to the movies, to dinner… bowling and each time Desiree had always made an excuse. Finally on New Year’s Day, Michael went with her to get a new phone and decided to take her out for those three dates she had declined in one.
Desiree was falling in love with man who made her feel safe, who saw the positive in everything and everyone. He was very loving and kind and made her laugh. Michael was in love with the girl who was sweet and loyal. With her, he wanted love to last a life time. So on Thanksgiving Day, exactly two years ago, he asked her parents for her hand and then proposed in front of her entire family. Desiree laughed and cried at the same time, nodded and said, “Yes.” If love is a game. Both people playing either win or lose.. Michael and Desiree won…and the game is never over.
